Today was another shameful day in Louisiana’s history. The full House approved House Bill 388, which would shutter most of the abortion clinics in the state — leaving the women of the Gulf Coast without local options. Now this bill goes on to the Senate, so we need to stop it there.

These types of bills do nothing to prevent pregnancy. Their purpose is to create enough red tape to force clinics to close, and deny women without access to resources their right to a safe, legal abortion. We know what’s happened before when desperate women have no options, but it seems like the Louisiana legislature wants to go back to the dark days of coat hangers and back alleys.
